YHU | Montréal Metropolitan Airport | Architecture, space, passenger experience!
SCOTT is architect-of-record for the new MET airport. The 22,600m2 terminal will serve over four million domestic passengers annually, providing IATA Optimal level of service. The introduction of commercial flights at MET will be a major advantage for Greater Montreal travellers, who can look forward to an accessible, efficient and user-friendly airport, within competitive operating conditions for airlines.
MET includes extensive SCOTT-specified environmental design elements and practices. These include: buying local materials where possible; designing the facility to be fully electric Net-Zero Carbon, connected to the Québec electrical grid, which is powered entirely by sustainable hydroelectricity and wind energy sources; and many cost-effective environmental measures like energy recovery systems, natural lighting, and low thermal loss ratio cladding.
A bit of history… YHU was the site of Canada’s first air traffic control tower, opened in 1939. Even earlier, the site was chosen by Great Britian’s Imperial Airship Scheme in its experiment to deploy the new R100 and R101 “blimps” to improve communication and provide transportation throughout the British Empire. The airport was divided into two sides, military and civilian. Canada’s Armed Forces still use the former RCAF Station St Hubert as a garrison comprising a tactical helicopter unit, service battalion, and brigade group headquarters. Artwork for the new terminal – conceived by SCOTT and realized by interiors firm, Figur3 – is a compelling nod to this important slice of Canadian aviation and military history.

“I sincerely congratulate you and the entire SCOTT team for what we are seeing here at MET. It is remarkably and beautifully executed, without question one of the nicest terminals in Canada. In fact, many of our guests say it feels like stepping into a VIP lounge! Well done. We are extremely pleased with the outcome.” – Charles Roberge, President & CEO, YHU Infrastructure Partners (Québec) LP

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | Clear skies ahead!
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is an award-winning gateway to Canada’s largest city. SCOTT has partnered with BBTCA since the airport’s early 2000s renaissance. Terminal facilities for Porter Airlines, BBTCA’s pioneering aviation tenant, were brought to life by SCOTT’s skilled team of aviation planners and architects. Our original design philosophy for the passenger terminal building included ensuring that the space and the building fabric could be easily reconfigured to keep abreast of inevitable and constantly changing operational needs. Our latest project – the US Preclearance Facility – was launched in March 2026, making BBTCA one of only 16 airports around the world with US preclearance.

“It is a continuing pleasure to work with Nieuport Aviation. SCOTT has partnered with YTZ (Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport) since the airport’s early 2000s renaissance. We are currently working together to bring US preclearance to YTZ. SCOTT is always here to help Nieuport send passengers quickly and safely on their way!” – David C Scott, President & Design Principal, SCOTT Associates Architects, Inc.

Bermuda’s LF Wade International Airport | Multiple award winner!
SCOTT was the Design Project Manager and Lead Consultant for the P3 airport redevelopment team. We provided feasibility studies, master planning, architectural design, and project management. The project was designed to LEED Silver and includes a geothermal system for HVAC infrastructure and utilizes reclaimed grey water from the wastewater treatment plant.
From a passenger experience point-of-view, the terminal is a perfect union of modern amenities, innovative solutions, and sense of place. Bermudian culture and customs are highlighted through public art installations and finishes showcasing the vivid colours of Bermuda’s indigenous flora and fauna.
