Connecting the world by design
“By their nature, Passenger Terminal Buildings are dynamic entities in constant change. One of the unique challenges to designing such facilities is anticipating and planning for change. Types and numbers of passengers, airline and retail trends, aircraft design and function must be considered fluid elements in the design of any PTB.” David C Scott.
Since 1987 Scott has successfully completed more than 200 airport planning, design and construction projects in over 25 countries, bringing to each project an extensive understanding of every aspect of an airport’s unique requirements. Meeting all the functional and aesthetic needs of owners, tenants and users in an airport project is a fine balance of exceptional design and diligent management. SCOTTs international reputation has been built on both.
The firm provides a range of in-house Aviation Specialty support services relating to Passenger Terminal Buildings design, including financial assessment, security interface, baggage handling specification, apron planning, and bridge specifications (potable water, 400 Htz, etc.). With services ranging from curb through apron, SCOTT brings a thorough and innovative approach to each project.
As the design and managing architects for the world’s first privatized air terminal complex – Toronto Pearson International Airport’s Terminal 3 – SCOTT was at the leading edge of this trend. Since then, the firm’s specialized knowledge has been in demand by governments, design/build contractors and private developers around the globe.
Whether it’s a renovation project at home, financed the traditional way or a new air terminal building carried out under a P3 contract half way around the world; SCOTT has the expertise to deliver creativity and fiscal responsibility to every project. Resulting in cost-effective, functional, technologically advanced airport facilities through dramatic, critically-acclaimed design.
In 1987, David and Darija Scott, and a team of senior commercial architects, formed the new practice of SCOTT Associates Architects Inc. The mandate of the firm was to specialize in public/private sector joint ventures and privatization projects. Today, the firm continues to grow and attract skilled professionals.
